The word ‘Dushi’ stands for sweet and ‘Tamarèin’ means for Tamarind. These words are written in Curacao’s local language, Papiamento. Tamarind is one of the most beloved and popular fruits on our island. This local fruit was also the inspiration for our Senior Tamarind Liqueur.
The Dushi Tamarèin was created during ‘Siman di Kultura’, a very special week on Curacao. ‘Siman di Kultura’ means Culture Week, and the purpose of this week is to celebrate and preserve Curacao’s heritage. You can expect to see the locals wearing beautiful folkloric dresses, listen to typical local music, and of course, have amazing bites and drinks.
This year, one of our mixologists at Landhuis Chobolobo - the Home of the Genuine Curacao Liqueur - decided that it was time to make a new addition to our list of Signature Cocktails. Inspired by our island’s colorful culture, our local fruit Tamarind and our Brand’s heritage, the ‘Dushi Tamarèin’ was created.
Below you will find the recipe. We hope that you enjoy making this cocktail as much as we do, and that you will think of Curacao in every sip that you take. Cheers.
